he story of the Moscow quintet of modern music “Brevis Fusion Group” started in January 2004. Anton Willer , a famous Moscow saxophone player, agitated by his creative urge, love to hard rock, but
educated on jazz, decided to combine these two trends in his creative work, which both are, on their own, one of the most remarkable music styles of the twentieth century. The urge to create anything new in this new trend was gradually overcoming, and very quickly the concept was created, bright topics appeared, orchestration skills were found … And then the “Brevis Fusion Group” project was created. This is neither rock, nor jazz, and, at the same time, this is both at once. You can never tell, which is more here, rock or jazz … This music demonstrates features of virtually all the main musical genres, styles and trends of the 20th century: rock, funk, hip-hop, pop, rock-ballad, jungle, soul, be-bop, cool, progressive, etc.
You may even track country and classicism. All in all, you get a real fusion: the rigid and ruthless rhythm and modern harmonic revolutions as characteristic of jazz music of the end of the 20th century are juxtaposed with florid and rememberable melodies. The music turned out to be very quick-moving, energetic and rather rich, and it really absorbed all the best the modern trends have. The name came to hand just by itself: in music, the word “Brevis” designates a note equal to two whole notes in length (and a whole note is the longest note, as you know), it resembles of the word “breviary” (meaning a short summary, an abstract), which by right may symbolize the presence of traits of the many modern music styles in a single work. And more to that, it is very concordant to the words “Bravo, Bravissimo” (which is the highest reward for an actor), and the word “Brother”, since the main companion, associate, consultant and assistant for Anton is his Brother, Grigory Zaitsev (bass guitar, double-bass, trumpet, composition, orchestration). He participates in the project as the bass guitar player. From Grigory’s pen also came a part of the compositions composed especially for this project, and, moreover, lots of organizational issues are laid upon his shoulders, of which the young tem has a lot.
“Brevis Fusion Group” has a unique sounding: two accenting instruments, such as the guitar (Sergey Zuyev) and saxophone define, in many respects, the inimitable sound of this band, which is, in addition to that, determined by percussions (Dmitry Vlasenko) and keyboards (Igor Lyamtsev). The irreproachable tone ensemble of the guitar and the saxophone makes “Brevis” recognizable literally at first sounds. The combination of the “classic” sound of a rock guitar and the sound of saxophone are the pasteboard of “Brevis”. The natural resemblance of the tones of these two instruments is further emphasized by the individual traits of the two musicians: Anton and Sergey. Both of them love rock and jazz, and both of them put all their heart and soul into their dizzy solos. Generally speaking, all the musicians of “Brevis Fusion Group” are great solo players, perfectly mastering the means of jazz improvisation, and besides that, Dmitry Vlasenko (drums), Igor Lyamtsev (keyboards) and Grigory Zaitsev (bass) form an ideal rhythm section and are able to create such a distinct and fine line of accompaniment, that involuntarily one begins to think that this hardly can be taught to, this should be in the blood. Each musician of the “Brevis” group is a bright individuality, and together they are the"Brevis Fusion Group"
